A common misconception is that petite women are just short. True, pant lengths can be a major problem. However, the body of a petite woman entails several considerations for a flattering fit.
Inseam
Just as not all people are the same, not all petite bodies are the same. Some women have shorter torsos and longer legs, while others have longer torsos and shorter legs.
Finding the right length should not be determined solely by your height. Your inseam measurement determines the length of your pants.
To measure your inseam, begin at the crotch where your leg joins your groin. Roll a tape measurer down to your ankle. This is your inseam measurement. You can also compare your measurement by measuring pants that you already own. Use the same method. Fold your pants in half and measure from the crotch to the bottom hem.
Hip
Your hip measurement ensures the proper fit that has room for your bottom and doesn’t fall down. Your waist is the narrowest portion of your torso. To measure your hip correctly, find the portion that includes your hip bone and the fullest part of your derriere.
Bust
Another misconception about petite sizes is small breasts. This may be true for some but certainly not for all petite women.
