Founded in 1983 by husband-and-wife duo Ugo and Valeria Campello, Cosabella, which means “beautiful thing” in Italian, has always stood for more than lingerie. It’s a feeling. A lifestyle. A commitment to timeless design, exquisite fabrics, and celebrating women in every chapter of life.

From the 80s to Now: A Lace-Lined Timeline



1983–1989
Cosabella was born from a single idea: that lingerie should be as beautifully constructed as it is wearable. In these early years, hand-drawn designs—like this original sketch—set the tone for a brand rooted in Italian craftsmanship and creative innovation.
With the launch of the Soiré mesh and Talco collections, Cosabella redefined everyday essentials, blending fine European materials with silhouettes that felt fresh, feminine, and ahead of their time.

1990s
The launch of the Thong Revolution. Our signature styles became known worldwide, featured on fashion runways and even the cult-favorite show Sex and the City.
In 1998, Time Out New York spotlighted Cosabella’s mesh thong as a must-have—praised for its barely-there fit, comfort, and effortless sex appeal. With mentions of top NYC retailers carrying the line, the article cemented Cosabella’s place as a go-to for sleek, invisible underpinnings that still made a statement.


2000s
Our e-commerce store goes live, and we started to be feature in important magazines such as Cosmopolitan Magazine. Customers everywhere begin building their top drawers with Cosabella staples.
Long before “It girl” moments trended online, Cosabella had one of its own. In the early 2000s, a young Britney Spears was photographed wearing the Cosabella Sasha cami and bra for YM Magazine—a defining pop culture moment that put our signature mix of comfort and style in the spotlight.
The look was playful, effortless, and iconic—much like Britney herself. It’s a reminder that Cosabella has always been part of the cultural conversation, dressing women who shape it.


2010s
We expanded into extended sizing and inclusive fits—an initiative that not only resonated with our community but also earned a dedicated feature in Women’s Health magazine. Iconic collections like Never Say Never, Pret-a-Porter, and Curvy Sweetie become instant best sellers.
Meanwhile, another unforgettable moment in Cosabella history unfolded: Mariah Carey wearing our cami tank in a Japanese fashion magazine. The image perfectly captured everything Mariah embodied in the early 2000s—glamour, confidence, and ease—all in a piece designed for real comfort. Ultimately, it became a global spotlight for a brand rooted in Italian craftsmanship, proving once again that true style speaks every language.



2020s
As we move forward, we continue innovating—introducing seasonal hues, launching capsule collaborations, and expanding our loungewear and sleepwear offerings. At the same time, every launch remains guided by our core principles: Italian heritage, comfort-first design, and elevated femininity.
