Valeria Campello, Cosabella’s founder and President, was recognized last week at The Commonwealth Institute’s “Sixth Annual Top Women-Led Businesses in Florida” award ceremony. The ceremony honored the top 50 leading female executives in not-for-profit and for profit organizations based in the state of Florida.
Valeria Campello ranked 15 out of the 50 women being awarded at the luncheon. Rankings were determined by surveys submitted by leading businesses and based on the nominee’s involvement in their company and company’s financial growth.
The Commonwealth Institute a non-profit organization founded in 1997 to help empower women to succeed as high level executives through peer mentoring while also providing them with the tools and resources they need to a build successful businesses. TCI currently has more than 300 members whose companies have annual revenues ranging from $250,000 to more than $12 million.
Being honored as one of the Top Women-Led businesses in Florida is especially meaningful to Valeria because she founded Cosabella from the ground up. As a transplant from Italy to Miami, Valeria began to import high quality and refined Italian made products from her hometown of Carpi. “Being open minded about what is happening around you and having the courage to take calculated risks instead of sitting and watching is in my opinion the key to success in business and your personal life” says Valeria Campello. What started as a hobby to keep herself fulfilled outside of being a full time mother and housewife soon became a lucrative small business. With many ups and downs Valeria saw her “Made in Italy” vision come to life. “What made me succeed was having the courage to accept my new life in the US and being open to whatever opportunity that my new life had in store for me” says Valeria Campello.
Staying true to her roots as a female entrepreneur 28 years later Mrs. Campello is still the core and heart of Cosabella. As one of the only family owned and operated lingerie companies in the US, Cosabella is in the midst of a generational change. Ugo and Valeria Campello, Cosabella’s founders, are confident that they have instilled the principal values and goals in their children Silvia and Guido Campello. The daughter and son team are developing the next generation of Cosabella.
