Cosabella’s 28th Anniversary on June 1st vintage image archive

In celebration of Cosabella’s 28th Anniversary on June 1st we have pulled together some vintage Cosabella images to show the company’s transformation from a small business to a global brand.

Founded in 1983 by Italian couple Ugo and Valeria Campello, both transplants from Italy to Miami, Valeria began importing high quality and refined Italian made products from her hometown of Carpi. What started as a hobby to keep herself fulfilled outside of being a full time mother and housewife soon became a lucrative small business. Cosabella gained initial recognition, with the design of bodysuits in the mid-eighties. Cosabella continued to gain a following with the notorious Soiré lowrider thong made famous by the highly celebrated tv show Sex and the City. Soon Cosabella was adorned by the top celebrities of Hollywood. Celebrity fans included Sandra Bullock, Penelope Cruz, Winona Ryder, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Jessica Parker, Marissa Tomei, Uma Thurman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, just to name a few.  With many ups and downs, Valeria saw her “Made in Italy” vision come to life. Now 28 years later, Cosabella is renowned for their comfortable, colorful and diverse collections that include loungewear, swimwear, beachwear, hosiery, shape wear, and eco-friendly loungewear and lingerie.

“When you take a small opportunity and commit to it with passion and hardwork it can grow into something as meaningful as Cosabella has for me and my family. 28 years later we have grown into a larger family with the same commitment and passion that we started with” said Valeria Campello. Staying true to her roots as a female entrepreneur Mrs. Campello is still the core and heart of Cosabella. As one of the only family owned and operated lingerie companies in the US, Cosabella is in the midst of a generational change. Ugo and Valeria Campello, Cosabella’s founders, are confident that they have instilled the principal values and goals in their children Silvia and Guido Campello. The daughter and son team are developing the next generation of Cosabella.
