Celebrating International Women’s Month with Cosabella

Cosabella has been an influence in the intimate world for almost 40 years – and as a brand, we have consistently celebrated women’s bodies, inclusivity and empowerment since its founding. With International Women’s Month approaching, we are celebrating the strong and powerful women that keep the brand growing.

Silvia Campello is the President/Co-CEO of Cosabella, who has taken over from her mother and founder Valeria Campello. We had a chance to sit down with her and chat about her greatest influences, advice for younger women and more. Read about Cosabella’s history here.

Who has been your greatest female influence and why?

My greatest influence has been my mother for multiple reasons. First, her ambition and hard work for starting Cosabella as a small intimate shop and growing it into what it is today. And of course, being an 8 year breast cancer survivor and knowing how resilient she is.

Lingerie is all about enhancing and expressing yourself – what do you think is the most important aspect of finding the perfect pieces for you?

At Cosabella, our collections are catered to all different shapes and sizes, and also being able to work for you everyday with support and comfort. For me, I am always on the go between my family and running a business. My go-to is the Never Say Never collection, especially the petite bralettes. I have never been able to find a wireless bra that supports me with the proportions to flatter a more petite figure. They provide all day comfort with our super soft lace – and I get to wear them in all my favorite colors!

You are a woman and also a President/CEO, what has helped you get to where you are today?

Always following my instincts – after taking over the family business, I knew what our brand message and values were from the beginning so I always try to keep those in mind with everything I do. Also, since I am a woman, I can relate to the customers that shop our brand because I know what it’s like to wear these types of products that we sell.

What advice would you tell younger women today?

Always try something you are interested in – you will love doing it because it brings you joy, and if it doesn’t then you tried and did something different instead of wondering “what if”…

If you could have dinner with one influential woman, from any time, who would it be and why?

Rita Levi-Montalcini – She was an Italian Nobel laureate, honored for her work in neurobiology for discovering what is known as nerve growth factor. Her work on nerve growth led to discoveries on how that growth can go wrong in diseases like dementia and cancer. As a woman, she broke patriarchal boundaries to pursue a professional life of academic studies in the early 1900’s and became one of the most influential scientists of all time.
